The Uffizi Gallery is one of the oldest museums in Europe: started by Cosimo I Medici in 1560 to be the offices of the Florentine Magistrates (hence the name Uffizi – offices) it was officially opened to the public in the 18th century as a museum. Worldwide famous for its paintings, it houses the masterpieces of Florentine Reinassance. Definitely worth a visit not only for the works of art but also for the architecture of the building and the breathtaking views on the upper floor.
